Studio A
~600 square feet, divided into a control room, a main room, and a booth that we primarily use for vocals and guitar amp isolation, though it’s also been used for saxophone and other live instruments. In terms of acoustics, we’ve gone for a dead/neutral sound in the booth, and have gotten the main room to a room sound that we’re very happy with. We have a 24 XLR input tie line in the main room that is wired into a patch bay in the control room, as well as a 4 XLR tie line in the booth.
The main room arranged for live tracking of drums, scratch vocals, and DI bass. Also visible is our Sony FC30 4k camera which is available for taping. We have attached an XLR adaptor kit to the camera with two XLR inputs, and have experimented with a live stereo feed that comes out of our mixer directly into the camera as we record.
The poet Edwin Torres, recording with Samita Simha, a vocalist and ektara (Indian string instrument) session musician.
Devin Brahja Waldman and Georgia Wartel Collins: upright bass in the main room and saxophone in the booth.
